Singhs and Kaurs Society Malaysia (SKSM) is aiming to, portray a national unity of Malaysian Indians. We hope to achieve this by enriching collaborations with our peers, Indian association/societies and the community at large. These forms of collaboration encircle the spiritual and the wellbeing of the community. In doing so, we aim to educate ourselves, our peers and our generation to uphold our language, culture, norms, religion, and thrive to give back to the community as active volunteers.
In the 3rd quarter of 2019, SKSM aims to promote the wellbeing of our family’s function, spiritual wellbeing that revolves around intergenerational gathering over joined community events. Such get together should be focused on promoting active interactive session over issues pertaining to spiritual, physical, social, health, mental wellbeing and education. Therefore, for the year 2019, we will dedicate our efforts through #MyIndian1CommunityFair to fulfil the following:
- Family & Food “A Family Celebration”: Promote healthy eating; this component addresses the meals preparation and consuming habits to improve physical and mental wellbeing
- Hakuna Matata: Promoting destress mechanism via the use of art & music. This component aims to promote & support the teaching of spiritual wellbeing with cultural musical instruments. Music and dance have great potential in alleviating stress emotions and improving mental wellbeing (Yehuda, 2011)
- Baby Boomers: The aim of this component is to integrate our elders into our community activities
- Family my Pillar: A honeycomb of love, respect, honour and bonding of the community strengthens a family relationship and family health. There is a need to emphasize healthy intergenerational relationships within family members. This is a significant factor for consideration for well-being across the life course
- Z Generation: An entertaining section which integrates activities aimed for a child, adolescence and youth-based activities
